Morocco To Face Mali in 2020 African Nations Championship Final

Morocco defeated Cameroon 4-0 in the semifinals of the 2020 African Nations Championship on Wednesday, securing a battle with Mali in the final.

Morocco outclassed Cameroon throughout the match, with the first goal scored by Soufiane Bouftini on the 28th minute. The second was scored by Soufiane Rahimi five minutes before the end of the first stanza.

Rahimi scored his second on the night on the 72nd minute before Mohammed Ali Bemammer wrapped up the emphatic victory for the title holders.

“It was a little difficult for us from the start, but things got better when we scored the first goal. It was a collective effort by the whole team to get this result,” said Morocco coach Houcine Ammouta.

“ I congratulate the Cameroon team for coming this far in the tournament.”

Morocco will face Mali in the finals on Sunday. Mali reached the finals after beating Guinea in penalty kicks.

The Eagles will be in the CHAN final for a second time, and looking to improve on their 3-0 defeat to DR Congo in 2016.

Guinea will play hosts Cameroon in the third-place playoff at the Reunification Stadium in Douala on Saturday.
