Morocco’s Raja Fined US$10K for Crowd Trouble

Moroccan Premier League heavyweights Raja Casablanca have been slammed with a total fine of US$10,000 for crowd trouble.

Moroccan Premier League heavyweights Raja Casablanca have been slammed with a total fine of US$10,000 for crowd trouble.

The fines reel on the heels of The Greens’ involvement in the first-leg final of the Total CAF Confederation Cup with DR Congo’s AS Vita Club.

At one point, the game had to be stopped for three minutes due to heavy smoke flares lit onto the pitch and the match’s immediate aftermath was also reportedly marred by an ugly incident.

Raja’s striker Moussine Lajour is believed to have launched a vicious punch on one of Vita Club’s players, leaving him with a cut around the lower lip.

Other odds and end including projectiles and bottles were also thrown by the Moroccan fans on the visitors.

The Confederation of African Football have probed the matter, imposing a US$10,000 fine on the Moroccan outfit currently in Kinshasa, while suspending Lajour, found guilty of assault, for three games.

The decision rules out the forward for the second-leg final tie scheduled to be staged in DR Congo.
