Democratic Republic of Congo top-flight side Daring Club Motema Pembe have left for Seychelles for a CAF Confederation Cup tie against St Michel on October 8.
The local giants left with just 15 players for the Confederation Cup encounter, which will be their first continental engagement this season after they were given a bye in the first preliminary round.
Regular starters remained on Kinshasa owing to late registration, while two of the players lost their passports few hours to the flight.
Head Coach Barthelemy Ngatsono will hence have to depend on a squad that has stars who have never featured in a continental game.
Experienced midfielder Ricky Tulenege is one of the star players that will miss the match as he was only cleared to play for the side in September after receiving their International Transfer Certificate (ITC).
Former Dauphins Noir custodian Herve Nguemba Lomboto is the only goalkeeper that travelled with the squad.
However, the eligible squad for the second round of CAF Confederation Cup is decent enough to compete on the pitch respectably in the continent’s 2nd tier club championship.
But it remains highly doubtful that Motema Pembe retain meaningful wherewithal to navigate the African terrain after using up their cash reserves to clear outstanding salaries.
