Mozambique FA Chief Tests Positive For Coronavirus

Mozambique Football Federation president Feizal Sidat has tested positive of coronavirus, the FMF said Friday.

Mozambique Football Federation president Feizal Sidat has tested positive of coronavirus, the FMF said Friday.

Sidat learned he was infected with the pneumonia-causing virus on Thursday afternoon after coming down with symptoms on Sunday.

A statement from FMF says that Sidat had traveled to Cabo Delgado province last weekend on official business.

“On his return to the City of Maputo, on 23 August, Feizal Sidat felt ill and from the airport he went to a clinic where he was subjected to the COVID-19 test and was immediately admitted since the first symptoms appeared” , it reads in the statement.

Source close to Mozambique FA indicate that Sidat’s first coronavirus test came out negative but after the second PCR test was carried out, the football administrator was found positive for the disease.

Sidat is currently under medical care and in total isolation at unnamed hospital in the capital Maputo.

The FMF has now called all the citizens who have been in contact with the Sidat to remain vigilant and to take the necessary precautions in case of any symptoms.

Sidat returned to FMF presidency in December last year after formerly having serving two terms (eight years).
