For the first time, Nairobi’s Buruburu Soccer Academy will feature at the annual Rausha Kipaji tournament scheduled to be played in Nakuru, Kenya, from 28th to 30th April 2023 and has vowed to light up the tournament away from home.
The Academy confirmed participation in the annual tournament as they seek to offer young players an opportunity to showcase talent and grow their skills to prepare them for big competitions.
According to Buruburu Soccer Academy Director Dancun Karani, the academy will, for the first time, attend the tournament in readiness to engage in serious tournaments as they continue to hone their skills.
“We have talented young boys who need to play in such youth competitions to enable them to grow their talent and also to offer them an opportunity to showcase their ability at an early age. This will prepare them for serious competitions,” Karani said.
“At an early age, we focus more on individual skills development of the player and grow the children’s interest in football, but we also give opportunities to the kids to experience real-time competition to gain experience at an early age and better understanding of the game,” Karani, who formerly played for AFC Leopards, Gor Mahia and Mahakama and is also a trained FKF licensed coach added.
The Buru Buru Soccer Academy is a football nurturing organization based in Buru buru Estate in Nairobi’s Eastland area and admits children from seven (7) to Nineteen (19) years.
The Academy boasts of well-trained and qualified youth coaches who have attained the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and CAF coaching license and certification in coaching. They have also undertaken child protection courses to equip them with skills to care for the children.
The Buruburu Soccer Academy co-Director Kenn Okaka, a communications and PR strategist, said that the academy would use the tournament in Nakuru to expose the youth to competitive football and help them gain confidence to face teams from other regions.
“This tournament, just like other tournaments we do participate in is an opportunity for the kids by boosting their confidence as they face teams they have not encountered before and those that come from a different region from Nairobi,” Okaka said.
