Ghana national team the Black Stars will have a new head coach by Thursday 16 September 2021, according to reports.
The move will come just three days after the national team parted ways with Charles Akonnor and his technical bench.
Rumours are rife about the identity of the next man on the hot-seat, widely expected to be Herve Renard, with his unveiling expected to be in Accra.
A statement released to newsrooms indicating the firing of Akonnor, GFA noted that they football governing body has began as search of a new gaffer.
“The Executive Council has formed a three (3) Member Committee made up of Vice President Mark Addo, Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Salifu Zida and Dr. Randy Abbey to find a Head Coach and Assistant Coaches for the Black Stars within the next 72 hours,” reads the statement.
Reports in Ghanaian media indicate that Herve Renard has been in talks with GFA officials about taking over country’s national team.
Several high-profile coaches have been linked with the vacant position at Black Stars, including former Ghana international Ibrahim Tanko, who has also been mentioned, but latest reports reveal that Renard is in pole position to land the job.
The former Lille Coach could be making a return to the Ghana National team having served as an assistant Coach and physical trainer for the team in 2008.
He is currently Saudi Arabia national team head coach, a position that he has held since 2019 just after quitting at Morocco national team.
