Niger Appoint Local Coach to Head National Team

The Niger Football Association (FENIFOOT) has appointed Harouna Doulla as the new head coach of the national senior team- the Dama Gazelle.

The Niger Football Association (FENIFOOT) has appointed Harouna Doulla as the new head coach of the national senior team- the Dama Gazelle.

The 53-year-old replaces Ivorian coach François Zahoui who was asked to step down earlier in the year after failing to guide the team to the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

“Niger Football Association (FENIFOOT) has recommended Harouna Doulla to be appointed the next head coach of Niger Men’s Senior National Team,” a statement on their media channels read.

Doula, who previously held the same position in 2012, will have Hassane Idé Barkire” and Mahamane Dan Kalou as his assistants.

He has been tasked with qualifying Niger to next year’s Africa Nations Championship in Cameroon and the 2019 UFOA Nations Cup

The new coach’s first competitive match will be a CHAN 2020 qualifying tie against Ivory Coast on Monday.

The length of his contract has not been disclosed.
