Nigeria, Angola Qualify for FIFA World Cup U17s Last-16

Nigeria and Angola have both qualified for the ongoing U17s FIFA World Cup.

Nigeria and Angola have both qualified for the ongoing U17s FIFA World Cup.

The nations, part of the four countries representing Africa in the events in Brazil, each reached the knockout after their victories on Tuesday night.

The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria survived a late scare from Ecuador in a meeting that ended 3-2 while Angola shoved aside Canada via a late goal to collect six points in two outings.

Ibrahim Said scored all three goals for the West Africans.

Nigeria’s West Ham United goal-minder Daniel Jibadu turned the goal into his own net to gift Ecuador an equaliser before Johan Mina Mendoza converted from the spot-kick to earn the South Americans a second goal.

However, it was too late too little to effect a turnaround after Said stabbed home his third of the game a minute to the end of regular time.

It’s been a perfect run for gaffer Manu Garba’s Nigeria having beaten Hungary 4-2 in their opener.

Ambrosini Antonio Zini and David Nzanza were the goal scorers getting Angola the points up against Canada.

Russel-Rowe had netted but the Canadians couldn’t break down a resolute Angola.
