Nigeria Coach Jose Peserio Owed Six Months Unpaid Salaries

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have not paid Super Eagles coach Jose Peserio for six months, according to reports.

BBC Sport Africa reported on Wednesday that the 62-year-old Portuguese gaffer has not made an official complaint.

A Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claims that the situation will be resolved once they secure funding from the government later this week.

“We’ve heard from Mr Peseiro’s representatives that he only received his allowances and bonuses, which is very disturbing,” the source disclosed.

“His salary is being paid by the Sports Ministry but we’ve quickly made an alternative arrangement, in conjunction with the Ministry, to sort the salary payments this week.”

Peserio was appointed as Super Eagles coach in May this year after leaving his position as Venezuela coach where he was not paid for one year.

He replaced Augustine Eguavoen who lost his job after the team failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Peseiro, a former Real Madrid assistant coach, has been in charge of  several clubs including Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto, Panathinaikos, Rapid Bucharest, Al-Hilal, Al-Wahda, Al-Ahly Cairo and Sharjah FC.
