Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia Drop In Latest FIFA Women’s Rankings

Nigeria remain the highest-ranked team in Africa despite dropping one place in the current FIFA women’s world rankings.

The African champions dropped one place to position 38th despite winning the Turkish Women’s Cup in February.

In the rankings released on Friday, April 16, just five African teams maintained their positions while the rest ranked nations dropped.

South Africa failed to move up in the ranking as they dropped two places to 55th despite victories in two recent friendlies against Zambia and Botswana.

Likewise, Ethiopia slipped two places to sit on 112th position but retained its position as the best ranked team in Cecafa region.

Cameroon, South Africa, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Tunisia, Morocco, Mali, Algeria and Senegal remain in the African Top 10.

The Nzalang Femenino, Congo, Burkina Faso, Rwanda and Uganda remained motionless despite not being involved this year.

The first five positions in the world are held by the USA, Germany, Netherlands, France and Sweden.
