Nigeria Striker Paul in Dilemma after Danish Champions Slam Genk’s €3m Bid “Too Small”

It looks Paul Onauchu will have to persevere a bit more after his Danish league champions side FC Midtjylland declined to let him join Genk.

It looks Paul Onauchu will have to persevere a bit more after his Danish league champions side FC Midtjylland declined to let him join Genk.

The Owerri-born goal-scorer is growing worried that his ambition of going out to a bigger league may hit the brick wall as the transfer window’s closure draws nearer.

Belgian First Division A outfit Genk are leading in his pursuit and want the powerful center to bolster their ranks by all means but will have to cough up more than the €4m bid they lodged for Midtjylland to release the player.

Genk are on the lookout for a replacement for exit-bound Tanzanian forward Mbwana Samatta who’s being linked with sides including Monaco, Real Betis, Levante, Everton and Crystal Palace.

Onauchu is being perceived as the perfect fit to whatever void Mbwana’s departure will create, leading to Genk’s pestering of the Danish giants for the Nigerian’s services.

The Danish Super League has become Belgian teams’ scouting ground as Midtjylland only sold away star Gambian defender last August to Anderlecht for a whopping €8m.

Paul fears his team’s continuous feet dragging could discourage Genk from making an improved bid, according to reports in Denmark.

Paul has notched in a combined 66 goals since moving from Velje BK on a reported £180,000 deal in 2015. He is on his 11th goal in this season.
