Nigeria’s Sone Aluko Named Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month- October

Sone Aluko has been named the Sky Bet Championship player of the month for October 2016. On being presented the award, the forward said, “Personally it’s a great feeling to be recognized with this award. It`s a nice feeling to be publicly rewarded for your efforts. Ultimately I think it is a team award. I wouldn’t get this award if the team wasn’t winning and it`s a credit to my teammates and all the staff who have provided me with a platform to play well on.”

On 8 July 2016, Aluko joined Fulham on a free transfer from Hull City following the expiry of his contract. In an interview with sky sports, the forward said, “Aberdeen, Rangers, Hull, now Fulham,”. “It’s just how it’s happened for me. It’s good to be back down south with my family.” It’s also good to be wanted.

The Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic is in his first full season at Craven Cottage and has entrusted Aluko with the no.10 position. Aluko believes that Jokanovic’s choice to play him in what he thinks is his natural position has suited his game. The results have gone our way recently and because of this, I’ve been able to show my best form.”[/perfectpullquote]

The Nigerian forward was born on 19/02/1989 in England. He played for England at all levels up to U19 before opting to play for Nigeria. He scored his first goals (2) for Nigeria against South Africa in a 2–2 draw on 19 November 2014 in the qualifying round for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. – The goals he deems as his career favorites.

Aluko has since signed for Fulham, netted 3 goals in his 15 appearances for the club. On being asked what his favorite moment in a Fulham FC shirt is, he said, the “First goal against Preston.”

The Nigerian International knows he has a weakness with his right foot and he says he is working on a few things to improve.

For the 27 year old who has been unplayable the past few weeks because of his Pace, direct running and work rate, coupled with the passion and desire to match his ability, not forgetting the fact that he is one goal short of Fulham’s top scorers this season –Tom Cairney and Chris Martin, Aluko looks likely to be key in helping Fulham stay in the top end of the table. Fulham currently sits 8th on the Championship table.
