Nkana Striker Idriss Mbombo Nearing TP Mazembe Move

Nkana FC striker Idriss Mbombo is close to joining DR Congo giants TP Mazembe according to reports in Zambia.

Nkana FC striker Idriss Mbombo is close to joining DR Congo giants TP Mazembe according to reports in Zambia.

The DR Congo international is yet to agree to personal terms with the five-time Africa champions who are reportedly willing to splash $20,000 for his signature.

However, Mbombo is expected to arrive in Lubumbashi before the end of the transfer window as a replacement for goal scoring machine Jackson Muleka.

The 22-year-old rejoined Nkana for a second stint from Sudanese giants Al Hilal in July 2019.

In his previous stint, Mbombo helped the Kitwe giants to a second place finish and qualification to the CAF Champions League.

He ended that season as the top goal-scorer, shrugging off stiff challenge from his former Zesco United teammate Lazarous Kambole who was largely tipped to be crowned the king.

His contract at Nkana ends in 2021 and it is believed the bid placed by Mazembe will be enough to secure his signature.

Nkana are struggling to keep their best players after their sole sponsor Mopani Copper Mines halved their sponsorship throwing the club into financial turmoil.
