No Cases of Doping Found in Algeria’s League

No Algerian domestic player has been found wanting of drugs or a doping offence of any form, it has emerged.

No Algerian domestic player has been found wanting of drugs or a doping offence of any form, it has emerged.

It follows screening by the Algerian anti-doping commission in which they subjected 240 players from both the first and second divisions to tests.

The development is a sharp contrast from the seven deleted cases of failed doping tests three of which were cocaine-related.

“The commission have tested 240 players in the Ligue 1 and 2 since the beginning of the new season and no positives have been reported so far,” Djamel Eddine- Djamardji, the commission’s head, said.

“I appeal to all leaders of clubs to remain vigilant during and after matches and also help sensitize players. A player penalised for four years of a doping offence, in most cases, doe not return to playing football in the league again.

“Players are unaware of the danger they’re exposed to by using banned products,” he said.
