No Respite As Zesco United Winless Streak Continues

Zesco United continued with their dismal show this season as they failed to thrill past Napsa Satrs who humbled them 2-1 in a league match on Wednesday in Lusaka.

Goals by Augustine Mulenga and  Musonda Kapebwa  condemned Team Ya Ziko to their fifth match winless streak. Zesco scored their lone goal of the match through Kenyan striker Vincent Oburu.

Zesco had the first chance at goal but Keziron Kizito placed just wide from a Solomon Sakala corner after two minutes of kick off.

A minute later, Napsa took the lead with former Kaizer Chiefs striker Augustine Mulenga opening his goal account for the season.

The Bankers lead only lasted for sixteen minutes however as Vincent Oburu pulled the home side level in the 19th minute.

Napsa Stars  failed to convert in the 31st minute from an Chaniza Zulu cross which Sydney Kalume directed inches wide.

In the second half, Zesco made early changes to perhaps find an equalizer as Donashano Malama came on for injured Kelcin Kapumbu in the 47th minute. Four minutes later, John Chingadu replaced Keziron Kizito.

Napsa went ahead in the 59th minute from the spot  when Gift Zulu was brought down inside the box by Kelvin Kampamba and Musonda Kapembwa  converted from the spot.

Zesco should have found an equalizer in the 69th minute but Clement Mwape’s left foot shot was punched back into the field of play by Rodwell Mukwaya.

Samson Mkandawire’s header in the 78th minute missed by a whisker as the Team Ya Ziko pressed on for the leveler. Zesco skipper Clement Mwape was then slapped with a yellow for a foul on Kapumbu.

In the 85th minute Kelvin Kambamba and Daniel Adoko sent off after unsportsmanlike behavior leaving both teams with ten men.

The win lifts Napsa Stars to fourth spot on 12 points as  Zesco United go thirteenth with nine points from eight matches.
