Cape Town City chairman John Comitis is unruffled by the speculation surrounding Thabo Nodada, insisting the club has no intention of selling him.
With another transfer window drawing near, the South Africa international has been linked with Kaizer Chiefs, having failed to secure a move away from the Citizens in the summer despite handing in a transfer request, following interest from Orlando Pirates.
Comitis is not surprised with the speculation surrounding the midfielder, given the quality of the 25-year-old, who is tied to City until 2022.
“Seriously, there is absolutely not even one discussion about Nodada, there’s been not one discussion about [Edmilson] Dove,” Comitis said as per KickOff.com.
“Everybody tells me my players are going everywhere but nobody talks to me. I know nothing about all this s***. At this stage we are keeping the squad very much together for the new season.
” I see Nodada here for many years. If he’s going to go anywhere he’s going to go overseas, my brother.
“To be honest, at this stage I’m not even interested in any money. I’m interested in keeping the squad because I’ve got fans to report to.
“The fans want me to keep winning things and the only way I can do this is to keep players like Nodada and Dove in the squad.”
City brought Nodada at the end of 2014/2015 season having snapped him from Mpumalanga Black Aces.
He became a key figure in the first season with the Citizens, contributing one goal and one assist in 18 starts from central midfield position
Nodada had a slow start to the season, scoring three goals in over 15 league Premier Soccer League appearances.
The midfielder will hope to maintain his form when the league resumes as its currently under suspension due to coronavirus pandemic.
