Despite being the talk of Guinea Ligue 1 Pro, Horoya star Ocansey Mandela is not disturbed by his continuous absence from the Stallions.

The Ghanaian-born footballer was last called up in Burkina Faso national team squad that was preparing for an international friendly against South Africa eight years ago.

The 30-year-old has hit the ground running this season with three goals in 10 matches, before being sidelined with a knee injury.

However, he is yet to convince Burkina Faso national team coach Kamou Malo for a recall to the national outfit, despite having featured thrice for the Stallions in friendly matches.

“I am looking forward to being recalled to the senior national team. I, however, need to be on the mark to achieve that target,” Mandela said in an interview with Horoya Instagram page.

“As a striker, I am targeting to score more goals and above all improve on my form because that is what experts’ judge from players playing in that position. I hope that at the end of the league, I will be among the leading scorers.”

Mandela was born in Accra to Ghanaian parents but holds a Burkinabe passport after changing his citizenship to the Francophone country so he could represent them on the international stage.

The talented winger who was groomed at the Gomoah Fetteh Feyenoord Academy in Ghana and decided to represent Burkina Faso during his time at ASFA Yenega.
