Kenya Premier League giants Bandari FC have confirmed the return of Ken Odhiambo as the new head coach.
The 40-year-old Odhiambo was in charge of Bandari from 2016 to 2018 before moving to Sudan, where he went on a scholarship to study for his level A’ license in football coaching.
He succeeds Twahir Muhiddin who has been holding fort since the sacking of Bernard Mwalala early this year.
“This is to confirm that Bandari has appointed Ken Odhimabo as the new head coach,” the club said in a short statement on Monday.
“He succeeds Muhiddin, who will resume his duties as the Technical Director.”
Odhiambo joined Bandari in 2015 as an assistant to then head coach Muhiddin, who was later sacked after the team’s performance nosedived a year later.
He was then elevated to the head coach position and immediately embarked on a recruitment drive across the country bringing on board young but talented players.
In his first season, he led Bandari to finish in a respectable position eight before finishing second in the 2017-2018 season.
Odhiambo was previously the coach of Nairobi City Stars before being approached by Gor Mahia to work as an assistant to Cameroonian Anaba Awuono.
He left the position in 2013 to serve as Kenya national team assistant head coach, working under Frenchman Adel Amrouche.
In the current campaign, Bandari languish in position 9 with just nine wins, five draws and nine losses.
