Zimbabwe FA vice-president Omega Sibanda expects to survive a challenge for his seat in national elections slated for Sunday 16 December.

Zimbabwe FA vice-president Omega Sibanda expects to survive a challenge for his seat in the national elections slated for Sunday 16 December.

The affable and widely respected football administrator is hugely favored to retain his seat as the second most powerful man for another four years.

The congress is expected to be an exciting contest between Sibanda and Gift Banda who has declared his intention to challenge the veteran politician for the seat.

Executive committee member Stanley Chapeta name will also be on the ballot in his quest to test the popularity of the incumbent.

Sibanda, speaking after taking his campaign trail to the Eastern Region where he met with councilors in Mutare, expressed optimism about his chances.

“Action speaks louder than words. My works are there for everyone to see and it’s all done through the book which is our constitution. I don’t use emotions or grandstanding gimmicks that is a fact which I am certain our noble congressman and women are fully aware of,” said Sibanda.

Sibanda has been credited for a number of reformations while being hailed for transforming Zimbabwe’s football together with current boss Philip Chiyangwa since he assumed the presidency in 2015.

His critics however say, he has had enough and must give way even though no credible opposition has emerged.
