Onduparaka midfielder Fred Agandu is hoping his glowing form at the Caterpillars will help him earn a call-up to the Uganda Cranes squad.
The 23-year-old, who has been in fine form for Caterpillars since making the switch from Bul, said he is working hard to attract the eyes of national team head coach Sebastien Desabre.
“’It is everyone’s dream to get into the senior national team. All I have to do is to keep working hard, keep doing the same things I have been doing up to now. Not be big-headed or anything, but continue working hard,” he said in an exclusive interview with Ducor Sports.
A combative midfielder who can also play in defence, Agandu already featured three times for the Uganda U-23 national team and has expressed that he is ready to reinvent himself this year.
“[I am] hopeful to be in the Cranes team, but first I have to contribute to the team. If you contribute first to the team, personal glory comes afterwards. If you do well for the team, hopefully you will get a call-up,” he added.
The youngster added that he still harbours a European dream which he was working hard to achieve having once feature in a junior tournament in Norway.
“I still have a European football dream. I played in Norway with Kampala Junior team and it’s my dream to play as a professional abroad,” he said.
Agandu is one of the most sought-after midfielders in the Uganda Premier League and has played for Sports Club Victoria University, KJT-Rwenshama, The Saints, Simba before joining BUL and later Onduparaka, in January last year.
