South Africa Premier Soccer League giants Orlando Pirates have confirmed that midfielder Ben Motshwari has tested positive for coronavirus.
The 29-year-old underwent tests last week after showing symptoms of Covid-19, and is currently at home in isolation.
In a statement released by the club on Thursday, the midfielder is asymptomatic and will need to test negative before he is cleared.
“Ben was presented with flu-like symptoms last week and after undergoing tests, his results have come back positive,” read a statement from Bucs on Thursday afternoon.

“In accordance with relevant protocols, NHI has been notified of the case by the Club.
“The health and wellbeing of our players, officials, and the wider community remains our highest priority in this difficult time.
“The Club has also advised that the player must notify the doctors of all the people that he has been in contact with to ensure that they also get tested .”
Premier Soccer League 2019/20 season has been suspended since mid-March amid the pandemic.
Motshwari becomes the second Africa player to test positive of the deadly virus after Morocco’s Omar Zekri who turns for US Ben Gerdane .
The 25-year-old midfielder contacted the virus from his grandfather before declaring his status mid-April.
