Pamphile Mihayo: TP Mazembe Reappoint Former Boss After Franck Dumas Exit

Democratic Republic of Congo giants TP Mazembe have named Pamphile Mihayo Kazembe as manager for the remainder of the season to replace Franck Dumas.

Mihayo returns to the Ravens for a third stint, having coached the club in 2017 and  before coming back in 2021 for second spell in charge of five-time Africa champions.

He inherits a side that was eliminated from the African Champions League by Vipers SC of Uganda, having lost 4-2 on penalties on Saturday.

“Mihayo is hugely respected,” a source at the club told Ducor Sports on Sunday morning.

“The decision to change direction was taken on Saturday night, and we then contacted Mihayo.

“He agreed that he would take up the role at his former club, and he was insistent that things were done properly in terms of the changeover, and that his appointment would be on a short-term basis at this stage.

“He now has the support of everyone at the club as we move forward from here.”

Mihayo is a club legend at TP Mazembe and won two CAF Champions League titles in 2009 and 2010 as a player for the club.

TP Mazembe is the most successful club in the Democratic Republic of Congo with 36 titles since their creation in 1966.
