Patrick Aussems Arrives In Nairobi To Start As AFC Leopards Coach

Ex-Black Leopards coach Patrick Aussems arrived in Nairobi on Saturday afternoon to be unveiled as the new coach of the national team Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards.

Ex-Black Leopards coach Patrick Aussems arrived in Nairobi on Saturday afternoon to be unveiled as the new coach of the national team Kenyan Premier League giants AFC Leopards.

There were officials and journalists at hand at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to welcome the Belgian coach who arrived in the company of his agent.

Decked out in a light black pullover, Aussems smiled as local fans gave him a warm welcome before being sneaked into a waiting car by club officials inorder to avoid answering questions to a television station who were keen on being the first to talk to him.

The former Black Leopards manager is expected to hold meetings with the AFC Leopards president Dan Shikanda, the Ingwe technical team and members of the national executive committee on Saturday evening.

He will be unveiled Monday and will outline his plans for the Ingwe in the ongoing FKF Premier League and upcoming Betway Cup preliminary round match against lower-tier side Taita Taveta All-Stars.

He will then be officially presented at a press conference to be held at the club secretariat on Monday afternoon.

The 56-year-old has signed a two-year deal to take over from Tomas Trucha who resigned from the position in December following threats on his life.

Few other coaches including Zlatko Krmpotic and Maxwell Kanodu were competing against Aussems for the top job which is currently held by Antony Kimani who is acting as interim coach.
