Percy Tau Joins Al Ahly From Brighton

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Percy Tau has joined Egyptian Premier League side Al Ahly for undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old South Africa international has signed a reported four-year loan deal lasting until June 2025.

Tau began his career with Mamelodi Sundowns and won the South African Premier Soccer League with the side in 2014 and 2018.

He has scored 13 goals in 30 matches for his country since his international debut in Bafana’s 2-0 loss to Angola in a 2015 African Nations Championship qualification.

Tau is Al Ahly’s third signing of the summer transfer window.

Winger Luis Miquissone and defender Karim Fouad have also joined the club without disclosing the financial details.

However, Ducor Sports has learnt that the deal is in a region of USD1.8 million and was agreed it will be structured over three separate payments.

Tau spent a few years in Belgium but was recalled to England where he did not set the scene alight as he did in the former country.

The striker  featured just six times for the English top-flight outfit and registered one assist since rejoining from a loan spell at Anderlecht.

He reunites with his former Mamelodi Sundowns mentor Pitso Mosimane at the Red Devils, which signals the start of regular minutes on the playing field for the Bafana Bafana star.
