Percy Tau’s Al Ahly Transfer On The Brink Of Collapse

Brighton & Hove Albion attacking midfielder Percy Tau’s proposed loan move to Egyptian giants Al Alhy is on a brink of collapse, Ducor Sports can report.

The two clubs had been in talks over a two-year loan deal with a view to a transfer at the beginning of upcoming season.

However, Tau is believed to have stalled on the move as Brighton had proposed for permanent deal to Al Ahly’s rivals in Egyptian Premier League, Pyramids FC.

The South African midfielder is reluctant to take a pay cut of over 50% to fit within the Egyptian side’s US$ 16,000 a-weak-wage ceiling.

Brighton had agreed a deal worth USD1.8 million for Tau’s loan transfer with an option of a third to finalize his move to the record ten-time African Champions.

However, it appears the Seagulls have chosen to retain the Bafana Bafana star as they have registered him as part of their Premier League squad for the 2021/22 season.

A switch to Al Ahly would have afforded Tau a reunion with Pitso Mosimane, a coach who has meant more to his career than any other.

Tau joined Brighton and Hove Albion in 2018 from Mamelodi Sundowns before spending a few years in Belgium but was recalled to England where he did not set the scene alight as he did in the former country.

He has featured just six times for the English top-flight outfit and registered one assist since rejoining from a loan spell at Anderlecht.
