Pharaohs’ Hany To Miss Togo Clash

Pharaohs defender Mohamed Hany has been ruled out of the fourth 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo set to be played on Tuesday.

Pharaohs defender Mohamed Hany has been ruled out of the fourth 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Togo set to be played on Tuesday.

Egypt and the Hawks go into the battle at the Stade de Kague in the largest city of Togo. Kick off is at 18:00hrs Central Africa Time.

Hany picked an injury at the closing minutes of the first leg match played in Cairo and after the Pharaohs’ technical bench assessed him declared that the 24-year-old will be out of the Hawks’ game.

“Mohamed Hany will miss Egypt’s flight to Togo after medical scans showed that the player suffers from a torn ligament injury,” read a statement by the Egyptian Football Association released on Sunday.

Hany is a key player at his team Al Ahly and expected to recover on time to help the Red Devils in the African Champions League final against rivals Zamalek later this month.

“Hany’s injury is not disturbing, but the technical staff decided to hand the player a rest after contacting Ahly’s medical staff to inform them about Hany’s injury,” Egypt’s national team’s Doctor Mohamed Aboul Ela said.

Egypt are second in Group G with five points following their victory 1-0 over Togo in the first leg and another victory on Tuesday could seal their place in the continental showpiece.
