Egypt are in the process of negotiating friendly match against either Liberia or Djibouti ahead of the start of their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Pharaohs coach Hossam El-Badry revealed the news stating that the warm-up game date has already been set for November 8, just seven days before they welcome Kenya in the opener.

“We are already trying to play a new friendly before facing Kenya, specifically on November 8. We have called Djibouti and Liberia to try to play a friendly against one of them,” El-Badry was quoted as saying by Egypt Today.

Egypt beat Botswana 1-0 in a friendly last week in what was the first match for coach El-Badly at the helm of the record seven-time African champions.

“Our goal is to try the local players, especially with the difficulty of the professionals participating in that friendly because of their commitment with their clubs,” he added.

“We are following all the matches and all the players and we will join players according to our needs to treat the crises.”

Egypt is pooled alongside Kenya, Togo, and Comoros in the qualifiers of which the top two teams will make the finals, which will be held in 2021 in Cameroon.

A total of 48 nations, including hosts Cameroon, have been split into 12 groups each consisting of four teams, with two teams from each group progressing to the finals.
