Players of North African Club ES Metlouai on Strike As Feud With Board Rages On

Tension continues to simmer at North African club ES Metlouai with a common ground still to be found between players on strike and their club board, Ducor Sports understands.

The entire 25-man team of  Metlouai, plying in the Tunisian premier league, are on a sit-down strike over their unpaid dues.

The protest, beginning weeks ago has taken the shape of refusing to train or play league or cup schedules.

Chairman Boujelal Boujelal pleas for the stars to resume sessions have fallen so far on deaf ears.

This comes after several meetings with the players failed to yield dividend.

A truce was initially said to have been reached early yesterday morning but that turns out to be unfounded.

Issues of this nature are not uncommon to see in the Tunisian top tier with almost seven clubs said have faced qualms like this at start of the current season.

This term alone, countless aggrieved players have sued their employers to FIFA complaining lack of payment.

The World football governing body has responded with point-deductions and fines.

Owing to the ongoing ES saga, the team’s league match with Esperance du Tunis on Sunday, has been postponed.

Metouai is ranked seventh in the 14-team Tunisian championship amassing twenty-eight points in twenty-two domestic games and losing eight matches.
