Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC on Monday officially announced Sebastian Desabre as their new manager, days after his departure from Uganda Cranes.

The 42-year-old coach parted ways with Uganda national team side just 72 hours after players revolted over unpaid allowances in the run-up to Uganda’s last 16 matches which Cranes lost 1-0 to Senegal.

At a press conference held on Monday, Desabre expressed his joy of joining Pyramids, a move that ended speculations about the gaffer remaining in Cairo.

“I am very grateful to be joining Pyramids FC,” he said.

The Frenchman replaces Ramon Diaz at the helm, duly becoming the club’s fifth different head coach in just over a year. Alberto Valentim, Ricardo La Volpe and Hossam Hassan have all occupied the Pyramids hot-seat over the last 12 months.

This will become Desabre’s second job in Egypt after a short spell with Ismaily in 2017, where he took charge of the club in 18 games.

He has previously worked at ESC Rocheville (France) as an assistant coach before falling in love with African football where he moved to ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire), then CS Garoua (Cameroon) and ES Tunis (Tunisia).

Desabre also had coaching stints at Clube Recreativo Desportivo Libolo (Angola), Dubai Club (United Arab Emirates), JS Saoura (Algeria) and Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco).

Pyramids have managed a second place finish in the Egyptian Premier League log but could drop to third in case Zamalek who are third win their remaining two matches.

But the club has already secured a spot in continental football as they will likely represent Egypt in the CAF Confederation Cup.
