Egyptian Premier League outfit Pyramids have suffered a huge setback as defender Omar Gaber has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

Gaber, who joined the side from United States of America’s Los Angeles FC, picked the injury while on duty after their Africa Confederation Cup loss to RS Berkane on Sunday.

The 28-year-old is expected to be on the sidelines for one month after the scans confirmed the extent of an injury.

Gaber was stretched off in the dying minutes of the encounter after a bad tackle from Berkane’s Bakr el Helali who was shown marching orders by the referee.

He was subsequently replaced by Mahmoud Hamada, who recently moved ahead of the Pharaohs international in the pecking order.

Pyramids are sitting third on the Egyptian Premier League and have one game left against Arab Contractors before the end of this season’s campaign on Saturday.

They will be representing the country again in the next season of the African Confederation Cup as the result of the fixture against Contractors will not change their position on the league table.
