Pyramids have denied reports that they are attempting to sign Zito Luvumbo from Angola giants Primeiro de Agosto.
According to King Fut, the club’s head of transfers Amr Basiouny, Luvumbo has never been on their radar, although reports state otherwise.
A source close Ducor Sports revealed that football manager Ante Cacic is the one who was serious about luring the Angolan prodigy to Cairo, but said the club pulled out of the deal after Agosto named their price for the pacey winger.
“Cacic is the one who really wanted Luvumbo. Agosto were willing to release him, but Pyramids were afraid to pay,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Agosto refused to be drawn into whether or not Pyramids were after the services of Luvumbo, saying the fact that the youngster is currently with the club, simply means that he’s still happy in Angola
“Luvumbo is an Agosto player. Let’s please stick to that because the fact that he’s here, it means that he’s still happy at Sundowns,” a source close to the club president Carlos Hendrick said.
Pyramids confirmed last month that they will not rest until they find a quality winger to reinforce their attack next season.
Luvumbo made four appearances for Primeiro de Agosto in the CAF Champions League this season, providing one assist.
The 18-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise up the ranks at an international level, having starred at the U-17 World Cup 2019 in Brazil.
He also has two caps for the Angola national team already. Luvumbo made his debut making in their World Cup qualifier against the Gambia last year in September.
