RB Salzburg Beats Nice To The Signature Of Striker Karim Kanote

Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg have reportedly nicked OGC Nice’s prime target Karim Kanote under their noses.

The teenage sensation, who has scored seven goals for Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas in CAF Confederation Cup this season, passed his medicals yesterday and signed a four year deal.

Salzburg will have a chance to extend the deal for another one year if he impresses, and they have already paid €3 million for his signature.

“It is done, Kanote has signed for RB Salzburg and very soon he will be playing for them. He has signed a four-year contract with them and he is very happy to have sealed the deal,” a source close to the player told DucorSports.

The hijacking of Kanote is the latest illustration of Nice’s cash crisis, because they had been in talks to sign the player for a fortnight before Salzburg made their move at the end of last week.

Since graduating from the youth team, Kanote has developed into a key player for Mimosas and was unsurprisingly rewarded with a first international call-up in September 2021.

He made his Ivory Coast debut against Mozambique in the nation’s World Cup qualifying clash and was part of the Elephants squad that took part in 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
