Rwandese Joseph Areruya who rides for Team South Africa – Dimension Data Qhubeka – won the road cycling race Tour du Rwanda 2017 after an outstanding performance in one of the most challenging cycling races in Africa. He won Stages 1 and 3, kept the yellow jersey in Stage 4 and the Platinum Stage. His total of 40 points came in a time of 20:21.29 seconds and a distance of 819 kilometers.

Eritrean Eyob Metkel who also rides for the South African team Dimension Data Qhubeka came in second with 30 points in a time of 20:28.00.
Rwandan, Bosco Nsengimana claimed victory in the Prologue race and smashed his own record as the fastest rider in the Tour du Rwanda prologue history. He clocked 3 minutes 46 seconds on the 3.3km course.
The South African team won best team title after winning three of the eight stages. This year’s edition drew a total of 75 cyclists grouped in 15 teams from across the world.
