Brazilian coach Roberto Oliveria Goncalves do Carmo a.k.a Robertinho remains unattached after parting ways with Ugandan Premier League outfit Vipers Sports Club two days ago.
The 62-year-old’s achievements with Vipers have put him in the radar if several teams across Africa.
Two months ago there were reports that he was on the radar of the Tanzanian top-flight side Azam FC after they parted ways with Frenchman Denis Lavagne following a series of poor results.
Interestingly, the club is yet to appoint a permanent replacement for the former Coton Sport coach, with the 2022/23 league campaign set to resume in January.
Robertinho is a familiar face in African football having coached several top sides including Gor Mahia, Rayon Sports, Stade Tunisien, and Athletico Sport Aviacao.
After parting ways with Vipers, the coach has remained silent but that has not stopped rumors of linking him with several clubs.
According to a Ugandan journalist, Tanzania is the most likely destination, although there will be interest from North Africa.
Simba Sports Club appears to be considering the move for the former Brazil international as they sought a replacement for departing Juma Mgunda.
Strangely, rumors of Robertinho joining Simba have dominated social media with the club’s alleged paid bloggers posting that the coach is set to sign a three-year deal.
It would be a tantalizing move to see one of the finest coaches manage Pape Sakho, arguably Simba’s finest player, not to mention his star-studded supporting cast.
But it’s no secret that Azam FC are one of the richest teams in Tanzania and on the other hand, they seem to have made official contact with the coach’s representatives for a coach, but so far we don’t know which side is going to pounce him and make him their next coach.
