Ronwen Williams: Mamelodi Sundowns Sign South Africa Goalkeeper From SuperSport United For Undisclosed Fee

South Africa Premier Soccer League champions Mamelodi Sundowns have signed South Africa goalkeeper Ronwem Williams from SuperSport United for undisclosed fee.

The 30-year-old moves to Masandawana on a five-year contract after spending over ten seasons at  Atteridgeville.

South Africa’s public broadcaster SABC reported on Wednesday that the deal includes cash and swapping of goalkeeper Richard Goss.

Goss, a former Golden Arrows and Bidvest Wits shot-stopper, has been struggling for game-time at the treble winners, playing as the fourth choice keeper during the past season.

“The deal includes Goss going in the opposite direction on a two-year loan deal,” the SABC wrote on their website.

Williams joined SuperSports United at the tender age of 12 and has amassed over 250 appearances at a club since joining the senior side.

He has four trophies under his belt during his stay at the club, having clinched the Nedbank Cup on three occasions in addition to the Telkom Knock-Out title.

His goalkeeping heroics at the Tshwane giants have earned him 29 caps for South Africa.

He made his international debut in an international friendly against Brazil in March 2014 and was named Bafana Bafana captain last year.
