RS Berkane Confirm Appointment Of Florent Ibenge

RS Berkane have confirmed the appointment of Florent Ibenge as their new head coach following the departure of Juan Pedro Benali.

The Oranges confirmed the exit of Benali a fortnight ago due to a string of poor results ended their hopes of a top-three finish.

Ducor Sports reported on July 1 that Ibenge was set to move to the club after his sacking by DR Congo giants AS Vita and the Botola Pro giants has now confirmed he’ll oversee the last five games of the campaign.

“The signing of former DR Congo and AS Vita head coach came after agreeing all the details of the contract and specifying the goals that he will work on during the next two seasons,” confirmed Berkane in a statement on the club’s official Twitter account.

Ibenge had an usually long nine-year tenure in charge of the Congolese side, a position that he once doubled with Leopards managerial job.

During his tenure, the Black Dolphins reached two CAF Interclub Cup finals, notably 2014 African Champions League and in 2018 African Confederation Cup.

As DR Congo coach, Ibenge won 2016 African Nations Championship and also steered the Leopards to a third-finish in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations- their best finish in the competition since 1998.
