Sad News For TP Mazembe Fans Days Before CAF Champions League Game Against Vipers

TP Mazembe has been dealt with a major blow ahead of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round following suspension of four of their key players.

According to Congolese site FootRDC, Philipe Kinzumbi , Kabaso Chongo together with his defensive partner Koffi Kouame will have to sit out of four matches following a CAF Disciplinary Committee decision that was officially communicated to the Congolese giants on Wednesday.

The three players were allegedly accused of tacking Senegalese referee Ndiaye Maguette during Mazembe’s 4-1 semi final defeat to RS Berkane in 2021/2022 CAF Confederation Cup.

Mazembe will also be without the services of dependable defender Tandi Mwape, who will miss the first leg tie between the two sides after picking up a red card against Berkane.

Already Kinzumbi was out of the Mazembe plans as he had already skipped training and he didn’t participate in the pre-season due to contractual issues

The quartet’s absence is definitely a blow to coach Franck Dumas, who is targeting qualification to the group stages of the CAF Champions League.

TP Mazembe travel to Uganda to face Vipers on Sunday, October 9 in Kampala before hosting the Venoms in Lubumbashi on Saturday, October 15.
