Samatta Bags Ebony Shoe Award in Belgium

Tanzania and Racing Genk striker Mbwana Ally Samatta has won the 2019 Ebony Shoe award in Belgium.

Tanzania and Racing Genk striker Mbwana Ally Samatta has won the 2019 Ebony Shoe award in Belgium.

This award is given to the best African player or one of African descent in the Belgian Premier League.

Samatta saw off competition from Yohan Boli (STVV), Mehdi Carcela (Standard), Arnaut Danjuma (Club Brugge) and Landry Dimata (Anderlecht) to bag the award.

The former Simba SC and TP Mazembe man is currently the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League with 20 goals after 27 rounds of league matches and his fine run with Genk has seen him rewarded.

The jury is composed of the coaches of league clubs, the Belgian national team manager and sports journalists.

Past winners include Daniel Amokachi, Vincent Kompany, Victor Ikbepa, Celestine Babayaro, Marouane Fellaini, Anthony Limbombe among others.
