Tanzania international striker Mbwana Samatta has scored his debut goal as his new club Aston Villa lost 2-1 to Bournemouth in an English Premier League match on Saturday.

Samatta showed flashes of his brilliance when he headed home in the 70th minute in a fixture played at the Vitality Stadium.

Bournemouth earned their three points courtesy of two first-half goals, which were netted in a span of six minutes by Philip Billing and Nathan Ake.

Samatta was making his full debut for Villa having featured against Leicester City in the semi-final second leg match of the Carabao Cup at Villa Park on Tuesday.

In Villa’s game against Leicester, Samatta started the match but was substituted with Keinan Davis in the 67th minute.

On January 20, Aston Villa signed the player on a four-and-a-half-year deal worth £10 million from Belgian side Genk.

The 27-year-old directly contributed to 96 goals [76 goals and 20 assists] for Genk and guided them to the 2018-2019 Belgian Pro League as well as the 2019 Belgian Super Cup.

Aston Villa are 17th in the log with 26 points from 26 outings – one point above the drop zone.
