Borussia Dortmund have signed Ivorian striker Sebastian Haller from Dutch side Ajax on a four-year contract.
The 28-year-old joined the Erevidisie club in January last year from Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs and scored 47 goals in 65 appearances.
Dortmund director Sebastian Kehl welcomed Haller to the club and praised the start to his career he has had in Denmark.
“We are very pleased that we were able to sign Sébastien Haller, a seasoned center forward who recently caused a sensation in the Champions League, but who also knows the Bundesliga in particular and has already proven his class and high finishing quality there,” said Kehl.
“The overall package is very promising. Sébastien has a high level of physical presence and is also very resilient physically. With his experience, he can give our young players support and stability on the offensive. In the talks with us, he made it clear that he would like to achieve something with BVB.”
Haller, who failed to perform to his best during his time Tottenham Hotspurs, was the best was the third top scorer in last season’s Champions League with 11 goals.
He also played an integral part in helping Ajax to another Eredivisie title.
Haller will be available to play for the team during the pre-season at Signal Iduna Park once the signing paperwork has been completed.
“It’s a great stadium, but the greatest stadium is nothing without its fans. I can hardly wait to be able to feel the support of more than 80,000 spectators as part of the BVB family. Hopefully we will achieve great things together in the coming years and then be able to celebrate together,” Haller said.
