Senegal Confirms Friendlies With Morocco And Mauritania

The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has announced Teranga Lions will play two international friendly matches next month.

The Senegal Football Federation (FSF) has announced Teranga Lions will play two international friendly matches next month.

The West Africans have been inactive since November 2019 when they faced Congo and eSwatini in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Senegal were then scheduled to face Guinea-Bissau in back-to-back Nations Cup qualifiers in March, but the matches were postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

FSF has now revealed Teranga Lions will return to action next month as they take on Morocco on October 9 and four days later take on Mauritania in another tie.

“Given the context of the pandemic, these friendly matches will be held in strict compliance with the health measures decree by the authorities of the countries concerned, with recourse to closed doors to protect players’ officials and supporters,” reads part of FSF statement.

The match against Morocco will be played away at Prince Moulay Abdeallh Stadium in Rabat, while the clash against Mauritania will be played at Stade Demba Diop in Dakar.

Senegal are scheduled to also take on Guinea-Bissau in two qualifying matches for the 2021 Cup of Nations in November.

The Teranga Lions are currently leading their qualifying group (Group I) – three points ahead of second placed Congo with four games left.
