Senegal will square off with Ecuador in their final 2022 FIFA World Cup Group A match at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar on Tuesday afternoon.
Kick-off is at 15h00GMT.
The Teranga Lions beat Qatar 3-1 in their second group match which was played in Thumama on Friday.
Senegal can only advance to the knockout stages for the second time if they overcome Ecuador and the result in the other group match go on their way.
Aliou Cisse, the Seenegal head coach, will be looking to guide the African champions to a big win over favorites Ecuador.
“I come from a country where we don’t like losing,” Cisse told reporters on Monday. “We’re always hungry for that win. Not going to the round of 16 would be difficult to digest.
“We’re okay, we’re dealing with the pressure and stress. For me, it’s good stress.”
“We understand that winning will allow us to continue on the adventure and that’s exactly what we intend on doing.
“We know in 2018 we were looking for a draw when maybe the points would play in our favour but this isn’t the case tomorrow.
“We’ve got a very strong and experienced team, they’re a well-oiled machine. We’ve got the right mixture of veterans and players, players who are used to these types of challenges.”
Meanwhile, Ecuador drew 1-1 with Netherlands in their second group match which was played in Al Rayyan.
The La Tri will progress to the round of 16 if they secure a victory against the African champions.
Ecuador coach Guastavo Alfaro will be hoping to lead the side to victory in Qatar against the Lions of Teranga.
“I’m convinced we’ve done everything we can, we’ve done our homework, hopefully tomorrow we will be strong and fortunate enough against Senegal, who are a great team, and hopefully we will go through, because we deserve it,” Alfaro told reporters on Monday.
“We respect the pecking order, but we don’t need to be fearful. We remain calm but that doesn’t mean we are overconfident, we are not triumphalist,” he said.
This will be the first ever match between Senegal and Ecuador. It will be also the first between the La Tri and any African side.
