Senegal will clash with Guinea in their second 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Group B match on Friday.
The clash will take place at the Bafoussam Omnisport Stadium Kouekong. Kick-off is at 19h00 CAT.
The Lions of Teranga recorded a slim 1-0 victory against Zimbabwe who made the tournament favorites look distinctly ordinary in the group opener on Monday.
Liverpool star Sadio Mane scored a penalty seven minutes into added time after a shot hit the right arm of Zimbabwean defender, and the star sent the goalkeeper the wrong way.
As a result Senegal are placed joint top on Group B standings with Guinea who beat Malawi by the same 1-0 margin, with two more games left.
Senegal are expected to welcome Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy and Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly, who are recovering in Cameroon after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Guinea will be eyeing another Group B victory when they take on 2019 African Cup of Nations silver medalists Senegal.
The Syli Nationale narrowly defeated Malawi 1-0 in their first group match which was also played in Bafoussam on Monday evening. The only goal of the match was scored by Issiaga Sylla in the first half where the Flames were left to rue their missed chances.
Guinea head coach Kada Diawara is looking to ensure that his side mounts a serious challenge for the AFCON title and also secure a win against the Lions of Teranga.
This will be the 54th clash between Senegal and Guinea.
Senegal have registered 25 wins compared to Guinea’s 13 victories, while 16 matches ended in a stalemate.
