Senegal Sweating Over Injuries to 3 Key Players

It’s not been smooth-sailing for Senegal as gaffer Aliou Cisse toils over injuries to three key squad players.

Ismaila Sarr, Saliou Ciss and Mame Biram Diouf all sustained abrasions in the Lions’ goalless exhibition game with Luxembourg last Thursday.

Scans later conducted by team doctors on the trio shows the wounds are not as serious as first feared, according to Senegal Football Federation deputy president Abdoulaye Sow.

Former Manchester United and Stoke City forward Biram Diouf had to be hospitalised in the aftermath of the encounter at the Stade Josy Barthel and required four stitches on his head after crashing into Luxembourg’s Dick Carlson.

vice president Sow said, updating the local media regarding the player’s situation this week.

On the matter with Angers’ left-back Saliou and wide-man Sarr, Abdoulaye said it’s “nothing alarming.”

Meanwhile, Sadio Mane is back from a short hiatus after a disappointing Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid and has joined the Lions camp.

The West African nation will conclude its preparations with a tie against Croatia June 8th before playing South Korea three days later.

Coach Aliou is expected to name his 23-man squad for the Mondial anytime from now.
