The Taranga Lions applied the brakes on former World champions’ fine run coming from behind to force a draw in a display that thrilled home fans in Dakar.

It turned out sums were offered to the African players by their football governing quoted to be in excess of €750,000  in the event of a draw in addition to the €1000  given to each player as appearance fee.

The row reportedly teed off prior to the start of the game in Singapore but players lodged their complaint in the immediate aftermath of the stalemate.

Captain Cheikou Kouyate, Salif Sane and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibally –the senior players of the dressing room – refused to accept the €1000 until the federation completed their part of the agreement.

A meeting was immediately held by the FA delegates and the aforesaid three senior players.

Sane, Koulibally and Crystal Palace’s Kouyate also deplored the travel arrangements laid for the players, urging for a revisit of the situation in future matches.
