Senegal’s Coach on Brink of Agreeing Contract Extension

Alious Cisse on the verge of signing a new contract with the Senegalese Football Federation.

Gaffer Aliou Cisse is on the cusp of agreeing on a revised deal with the Senegalese Football Federation to continue as coach of the Teranga Lions.

Cisse has been in talks with his employers over inking the dotted lines for a contract renewal.

The negotiations already on the brink of being finalised, began shortly after he returned from the World Cup.

The contract, according to a source at the Senegalese FA, will be until after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations of which the Teranga Lions are expected to partake in.

Former captain of the lions, Aliou rose to the managerial helm in 2015 and guided the team to the 2017 AFCON before losing to eventual winners Cameroon.

The 42-year-old is tipped to make some amends to the Lions’ squad that played Poland, Japan and Colombia in the World Cup amid reports players who criticized him in Russia could face the axe.

Diafra Sakho and Kara Mbodji are reported to be umbraged over the gaffer’s decision to overlook them in Russia with the former believed to have even called time on his career with Senegal.

France-based goalkeeper Abdoulaye Diallo is also the least pleased with the coach who reduced him to an understudy for Khadim Ndiaye on the bench.
