Simba Coach Hopeful Of Second Leg Comeback

Simba SC coach Didier Gomes believes his side are capable of coming back from 4-0 down in the second leg of their 2020/2021 African Champions League quarterfinal against Kaizer Chiefs.

Erick Mathoho, Samir Nurkovic and Leonardo Castro condemned the Msimbazi Reds to a defeat in Johannesburg last Saturday but the 51-year-old is keeping positive.

“Anything can happen in football,” Gomez told journalists after the match. “For sure, we are very disappointed, but we are alive, and we are breathing, and when you breathe, you have hopes, so we keep our minds on that.

“It’s very important to believe that you can change the process, but for sure if we want to do something good next week, we have to be aggressive, efficient and we don’t know what can happen in football.”

Simba came into the match having won five successful matches in their domestic league while Chiefs were looking to snap their four-match winless run having drawn 1-1 with Swallows FC on Wednesday.

The two teams are scheduled to meet again in the second-leg encounter at Tanzania’s National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on May 22.
