Simba Confirm Departure Of Midfield Duo Of Clatous Chama And Louis Miquissone

Tanzania Mainland Premier League champions Simba Sports Club have confirmed the departure of much-loved duo of Clatous Chama and Louis Miquissone.

Chama, who has been at Msimbazi for the past three years, has permanently moved to Moroccan top-flight side RS Berkane on a long-term deal.

The Zambian international still had two-year remaining in his contract with Simba, but the club decided to sell him to the Oranges in a move believed to be worth $600,000.

At Berkane, the 30-year-old midfielder is expected to form a great combination with Congolese winger Tuisila Kisinda, who recently joined from another Tanzania Mainland Premier League side, Young Africans.

On the other hand, Miquissone’s departure has reportedly brought some shock though it was expected considering his stand-out performance during their 2020/2021 CAF Champions League campaign.

The Mozambique international is reported to have finalized a switch to Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly in a deal worth $900,000.

His move had been delayed as the Red Eagles were believed to be nearing the capture of Brighton & Hove Albion attacking midfielder Percy Tau.

However, Tau’s transfer stalled as the South Africa international was not ready to take a pay-cut hence forcing the Seagulls to register him for the ongoing English Premier League season.

Miquissone briefly worked with current Al Ahly’s coach Pitso Mosimane at Mamelodi Sundowns in 2018 and is expected to be key asset in Red Eagles’ fight for a record eleventh African Champions League title.

Simba  has thanked  the duo for their contribution to the club’s success in the 2020/2021 African Champions League where they were eliminated at quarter-final stage by Kaizer Chiefs.

“Our collective team successes in the Caf Champions League in recent years has opened doors for the duo to be seen abroad,” reads part of the club’s statement.

“We are extremely grateful to Chama and Luis [Miquissone] for their incredible service to the club throughout their time at Simba and we will always treasure the wonderful memories they left us with.

“As they move onto the next chapter of their professional careers, we wish them great success; Chama and Miquissone will forever be part of the Simba family.”
