Tanzania Premier League giants Simba Sports Club has lifted an indefinite suspension imposed on 28-year-old attacker Bernard Morrison with immediate effect.
The club had suspended Morrison for leaving the team camp without permission ahead of their premiership match against Tanzania Prisons two weeks ago.
According to a statement on the club’s portal, the technical bench together with the clubs’ management reviewed the players’ case and lifted the ban after Morrison acknowledged his mistake and asked for forgiveness.
“Bernard Morrison has been cleared to return to the squad following the finalisation of the disciplinary proceedings against him and the lifting of his suspension by the club,” Simba said in a statement.
Morrison not new to controversies as he was once fined by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for stripping off to his undies in celebration after his team beat his former club Yanga 1-0 in Tanzanian FA Cup final match played in June last year.
The Ghanaian striker joined Simba in August 2020 a two-year deal from Yanga in a controversial move that saw his former club suing the player for breach of contract.
He was cleared by Tanzania FA after being forced to refund the Jangwani Street-based side $25,000 for him to feature for the 22-time-league champions.
Morrison moved to Tanzania league in 2020 after parting ways with South African Premier Soccer League side Orlando Pirates.
He previously played for Ghanaian Premier League outfit AshantiGold and Democratic Republic Congo side AS Vita Club in summer 2015.
He left Vita after one season and joined Orlando Pirates in South Africa before returning to the DRC to play for DC Motema Pembe after which he became available for Yanga as a free-agent.
