Simba Player Arrested Over Attack On Yanga Fan

A Simba SC star was reportedly arrested for allegedly attacking a fan following Saturday night’s game against Yanga.

The alleged incident unfolded as Simba SC players were heading back to locker room following goalless stalemate with Yanga in a Tanzania Mainland Premier League clash.

According to Mwanaspoti, one of security agents saw Bernard Morrison, a Simba SC attacking winger, turn towards unnamed fan and kicked him.

Morrison was arrested and taken Chang’ombe Police Station where he was questioned before being freed on bond.

A senior police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters, said Morisson attacked the fan for hurling abuses on him regarding to a past case, where he was allegedly accused of stealing a car in during his times with South African Premier League side Orlando Pirates.

Morission was recently denied a visa to travel to South Africa to play African Confederation Cup quarter-final match against the Buccaneers due to previous immigration offence.

The Ghanaian-born is  not new to controversies as he was once fined by Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) for stripping off to his undies in celebration after his team beat his former club Yanga 1-0  in Tanzanian FA Cup final match played in June 2020.

He joined Simba in August 2020 a two-year deal from Yanga in a controversial move that saw his former club suing the player for breach of contract.

He was cleared by Tanzania FA after being forced to refund the Jangwani Street-based side $25,000 for him to feature for the 22-time-league champions.

He previously played for Ghanaian Premier League outfit AshantiGold and Democratic Republic Congo side AS Vita Club in summer 2015.
